Gaviota S.A. provides 40% of its dividends to SofoNic to continue its impacts in the life of Nicaraguans. SofoNic is a three decade Nicaraguan civil society organization involved in a multitude of long-term programs, from affordable housing, to reforestation, to dual education, to architects of the community.

Dual Education
A program of practical and formal education, begun in 2003 through collaboration between SofoNic and the Politechnical Institute of Jinotepe (IPJ), enables youths, many of them street kids, to enter a program for masonry apprentices where they learn by working on the jobsite in social housing projects and attend classes one day a week at the IPJ.

Reforestation
The urgent crisis of our planet has prompted SofoNic to bring reforestation into its social housing projects, in addition to its long-term reforestation of unused land, projects that have been recognized by national and international institutions, whether MARENA, DANESA...
