Located on the Pacific coast in southern Nicaragua, this cozy fishing village is a two hour drive from Managua. It is the preferred beach of the people of Nicaragua, and in peak periods like Christmas and Easter week it overflows with people, in sharp contrast to the usually relaxed and quiet ambiance.

While the beachfront sizzles with music from the bars and the many seafood restaurants, only one block towards the center of town (where the Hotel Colonial is situated) people sit quietly in their rocking chairs on the sidewalk.

The coast in both directions from San Juan del Sur harbors many smaller beaches between scenic rock formations with no or little infrastructure. They invite for day trips and some of them are famous for good surfing.

Escorted fishing trips in the Pacific Ocean can be arranged for individuals or groups, they are a definite highlight for the last day of a seminar or a meeting !
